Serving People In Need (SPIN) has been a vital force in helping the homeless and working poor in Orange County, California since its establishment in 1987. Over the years, the organization has served more than 76,000 individuals and families, focusing on self-sufficiency programs and services rather than mere handouts. SPIN’s mission is to restore homeless and at-risk families with children in crisis to housing and self-sufficiency through its housing assistance, case management, and support services.

In 2022, SPIN’s GAPP Housing Program made a significant impact by serving 918 households, totaling 3,307 individuals. This included housing assistance, case management, support services to 362 households, diversion services to 38 families, grocery assistance, transportation assistance, or referral to other resources for 518 families. A remarkable 92% of clients achieved self-sufficiency at the program’s end and maintained housing. As an Access Point for Central Orange County, SPIN has also been instrumental in preventing homelessness, assisting over 2000 individuals through this initiative.

SPIN continues to demonstrate its commitment to ending homelessness in 2023. In a recent fundraising effort, the organization raised $194,606 to support at-risk and homeless families in Orange County. This fundraising success reflects the community’s trust in SPIN and its mission to aid those in need. Through their persistent efforts and the public’s generosity, SPIN continues to make significant strides in helping to end homelessness in Orange County. https://www.spinoc.org
