” I’m a photographer based in Long Beach, California.
I became interested in photography when I acquired my Dad’s Olympus OM-2. That was a fun 35mm film SLR with a 50mm f1.4 lens. When the digital age rolled around I went through a bunch of point-and-shoot cameras that clearly disappointed me. Finally when dSLR’s became available I picked up a Pentax and fell in love with photography again. As I grew as a photographer I knew the Pentax system wouldn’t take me to where I wanted to go. I made a switch to Canon and it was a hard decision at the time. Canon and Nikon had pretty similar bodies at the time, but the L-Series lenses of Canon pulled me in.
So now I shoot primarily with a Canon 5D Mark II and a Canon 50D as a backup.
I have fun taking photographs of most everything. I like doing portraits and landscapes the most, but I’m really interested in getting into macro photography. I’m not really into photojournalism. I’m not the kind of photographer that walks around with a camera and shoots everything.”-© Brian Barreto Photography
